2023 VW Caddy PHEV Spied

Volkswagen is one of the pioneer forces that use electric drivetrains in the automotive industry. Its cars have earned several awards for innovation, fuel efficiency, and safety. The fourth-generation Volkswagen Caddy, which has been on the market in Europe since November 2020, is now featuring four internal combustion engines as well as a plug-in hybrid powertrain. New spy photos of this new electrified Caddy were recently taken.

The Caddy PHEV is available in both wheelbase lengths. A charging port on the left fender is hard to miss. It's been designed to look like part of the vehicle, though it's admittedly at an awkward stage right now.

The Caddy PHEV was originally expected to use the powertrain from the Golf PHEV which is powered by a 1.4-liter TSI gasoline turbocharged engine coupled with an electric motor. Yet, according to some reports, the Volkswagen Group is developing a variation of this system using an updated version of its 1.5-liter TSI turbocharged gasoline engine.

It is uncertain if this powertrain will incorporate an electric motor, but it is most probable that power will be transferred via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. A lithium-ion battery pack may provide up to 31-37 miles of range.

The prototype plug-in electric Caddy was not camouflaged, indicating that Volkswagen is not making big external modifications to the car or that work is close to completion.

Volkswagen's ambitions in the green car market look promising. The company remains committed to all facets of alternative energy, and apparently, it is only just getting started.
