Mercedes Benz T-class Van

Mercedes is launching an updated version of the Citan, this time it will be called the T-class, and it will accommodate passengers instead of cargo.

The most powerful option will run on a turbocharged gas inline-four engine, good for 129 horsepower. With other diesel engine options.

European drivers tend to prefer smaller cars in general, especially those small-sized vans. carmakers notice that. that’s why they always launch their small vans exclusively in European markets and preserve the larger ones for the American consumers, that’s what has happened once more, Mercedes has launched a newly redesigned version of the Citan, the new model was built on the skeleton of the Renault Kangoo and it will be called the T-class. The new small van will be sold exclusively in Europe, at least for the meanwhile, while the brand still offers the American customers the full-size Mercedes-Benz Sprinter or the mid-size Mercedes-Benz Metris.

With 177.1 in length and 71.3 inches in height, the van will be enough for five passengers. However, Mercedes is promising a follow-up model with a 7-passenger capacity.

The model will have four engine options, all inline-four engines, two of them are 1.5-liter diesel and the other two are turbocharged 1.3-liter gas. The most powerful one will be able to produce 129 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. The standard transmission is a manual 6 speeds gearbox, however, if you choose one of the diesel engines you can have a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission instead.

The interior is stocked with faux leather. The front passengers can enjoy a 7.0-inch touchscreen and a 5.5-inch digital display in addition to smartphone integration, keyless start, and led lighting for the entire cabin.

The back row can be folded flat to make room for more luggage. Mercedes made sure to design wide sliding door openings and a low rear sill for more practicality. All of this can be purchased with just under $31,500, or 30,000 euros if you will.
