New Mercedes-AMG GT rendered: price, specs and release date
It’s a happy day for Mercedes lovers, an official rendering of the new Mercedes-AMG GT was released as the car was spotted doing testing rounds. The car is expected to be released towards the years ends.[i]
From the images we can see that the AMG GT is retaining the general shape of the current model, but with some noticeable modifications.
The most noticeable tweak is the new headlight design that looks more like the one on the Mercedes SL or the classic AMG.

The new model will have wider wheel arches, an understandable choice when you know that it will run on larger wheels. The profile will feature also a long bonnet and a short rear end. The back side takes a lot after the SL, especially with the long, thin taillights and the wider exhausts.
The new Mercedes-AMG GT will most likely be equipped with the same V8 engine that the SL Roadster runs on, however this 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 will most likely produce 476 hp only, unlike the 585 hp we find on the SL.
Hybrid power is still a possibility in this car as well, the use of an electric motor may add 204 horsepower to the general output.
All-wheel drive will be the standard here. There is no mention of a rear-wheel-drive version yet. However, the Mercedes-AMG GT may have a drift mode that will allow for a RWD like experience, by transferring all of the engine’s power to the rear wheels.
No interior features were disclosed yet, we can only speculate that the new model’s cabin will be similar to that of the SL63 which features two large screens domination the entire dashboard, and used separately as a digital driver’s display and the second one as a central infotainment system.
Customers will still have to wait until next year, as the official reveal is scheduled for the end of 2022. The waiting time may be good if you need time to set aside $156.000, which is the expected starting price of the AMG GT
