The 2022 Chicago Auto Show is about to display a huge comeback for Midsize pickup trucks, the new three Frontier concepts fully redesigned by the Japanese automaker Nissan.
There's one for each of the Frontier's three trim levels — S, SV and Pro-4X — and all are based on the crew-cab body style. Nissan explains it wants to showcase to the customers how they can modify their new Frontiers depending on their personal needs and ways of use.

The first concept which is the 72X Frontier is a tribute to the popular Datsun 720 pickup that was produced in the early 1980s, Nissan kept the original formula of bare-bones, and added a set of white wheels which are actually the 2022 Frontier spare wheels wrapped with PRO-4X tires. As well as the sport bar behind the cab, to add a styling flourish and a place to mount lights or other accessories.

Next up is Project Hardbody, which is reminiscent of Nissan D21 truck, customized with a black front fascia, 1980s-style graphics and a bed-mounted spare tire. The vintage appearance comes thanks to the additional fender arches and the old-school block-style wheels with 33-inch tires.

The last Frontier concept is Project Adventure, which features a Yakima LoadWarrior roof cargo basket and bed rack and iKamper tent. Nissan as always, sets the bar higher by adding a bed audio system by Kicker with Bluetooth connectivity.
