Lexus gave a quick refresh to the UX last year, updating both the look and the feel of this small crossover/SUV/thing. For 2023, though, Lexus is giving the UX an update that will make it significantly different from today.
Not only is Lexus moving the UX to an all-wheel-drive system, but it's also giving the UX an all-new hybrid powertrain. The company will no longer offer the base-model UX 200 and will now make the UX 250h its baseline model.
The powertrain will be the 2.0-liter I4 mated to the two-motor hybrid system. Currently, this combination produces 181 hp and 39 combined mpg in the 2022 Lexus UX 250h.
The interior has been revised to match the powertrain changes. The previous infotainment system is out, the new one features a standard 8.0-inch or optional 12.3-inch touchscreen.
Lexus took advantage of the ’23 model year to make some more changes to guarantee that its new hybrid-only model would be able to compete with other models on the market today. The UXh compared to its predecessors boast a revised steering calibration, stiffer body panels, and suspension tuning changes. This is a car that's designed to be taken seriously.
The base price is expected to increase without the Lexus UX 200 in its lineup. However, it will most likely stay below $40,000.
Lexus has made a name for itself by offering luxury hybrid vehicles, and the company seems ready to continue that trend with the hybrid-only UXh model.
