Toyota is looking to bring back the spirit of its beloved Land Cruiser in the form of a small electric crossover. The Compact Cruiser EV concept car shown at Toyota's presentation about its future EV plans could be a mini-Land Cruiser, capturing what makes the iconic Ford Bronco Sport so alluring.
Despite the lack of concrete information on its powertrain and platform, the Compact Cruiser's design—with four doors, a tall and boxy body, short front and rear overhangs, and big fender flares—makes it appear ready for off-road adventures. The appearance of the vehicle seems to indicate that it will have off-road capabilities and a rugged look. It's similar to Toyota's boxy FT4X concept from a few years back, but with even more FJ Cruiser–esque retro charm tossed in for good measure.
Toyota's Baby Land Cruiser is an electric vehicle that may ride on one of the company's new electric vehicle architectures, but a timeline for its production has not been announced. More information about Toyota's electric vehicle plans should become available toward the end of this year or early in the next.
