Industrial Engineer

The Industrial Designer plays a key role in optimizing the capacity planning of the different production lines and assisting upper management in obtaining a better understanding of employee performance in relation to strategic goals and objectives.

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for directing, organizing and controlling operations and production activities, under the direction of the upper management of the company.

Place in the Organization

  • Collaborate with the Design and Engineering department to create production process and requirements for new products.
  • Direct facilities’ operation/production and address issues/concerns/achievements with upper management.

Main task/roles/responsibilities

Capacity planning calculations and efficiency increase

  • Increasing capacity, efficiency and productivity through implementation of lean manufacturing, 5S, Kanban system, analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Capacity planning based on the projections and forecasts of the sales and marketing department, calculating the capacity for different production lines (different products), allocating resources to appropriate areas of production (based on location and product type), and relaying feedback information to the sales department for the actual capacity.
  • Monitoring efficiency and productivity and throughput of production departments, and their subsequent components, compare and analyze results, and making decision and taking actions that would result in increased efficiency, productivity and throughput.  

Additional expectations

Supervision of all production associated operations

  • Experience with cost calculations, forecasting and KPI development
  • Supervise all the production-associated operations.
  • Perform time study analysis in order to obtain cost of production for the new products for pricing purposes.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating labor, material, and production costs, estimating future requirements and scheduling.
  • Introduce several Key Performance Indicator (KPI) in different departments to assist upper management with better understanding of employee performance in relation to strategic goals and objectives.
  • Develop a mathematical model for scheduling and forecasting product lead time based on customer priorities, material availability, production backlog, available resources, production location, logistics and etc.
  • Creating a scheduling module for releasing orders to production, monitoring advancement of orders in the production line, ensure consistency with the production schedule, address issues/concerns with production (floor) managers, monitor the seamless flow of operations and production, and ensuring orders are processed in a timely manner.
  • Analyzing large database from production, creating pivot tables, monitoring production flow, backlogs, forecast potential problems and creating queries in order to generate custom reports in order to understand true production outcome, market trend analysis, customer order and shipment analysis, etc.
  • Creating and documenting processes and procedures to minimize errors and mistakes, and creating a standard work instruction for all manufacturing locations.
  • Designing and creating an efficient layout for new warehouse and facilities

Other requirements

  • MS in Industrial Engineering, or related.
  • Experience in industrial engineering is a preference.
