Porsche has finally confirmed that their next EV production model will be a two-seater known as the 718 Boxster EV.

New Spy Shots just came from Porsche, and yes, it is correct, the automaker has confirmed that the next-generation Boxster and Cayman will be exclusively battery-powered when they arrive as ’25 models in late 2024.

Now, though, it appears that the automaker is ready to show off its latest high-performance battery cells with the Cellforce Group. The cells are expected to be ready for series production in 2024. However, it appears the company is yet to decide whether to use electric power for all models or only the high-performance versions.

“We are stepping up 520 our electric offensive with another model,”. “By the middle of the decade, we want to offer our mid-engine 718 sports car exclusively in an all-electric form.” Porsche boss Oliver Blume stated in March.

The Porsche 718 Boxster EV follows a route of necessity. It’s built to preserve the core values of the Boxster, with some of its predecessor's magic. It still retains its potential to be a brilliant pocket-rocket, as well as offer a wider depth of appeal than its predecessor.

The vehicle takes immense influence from the Mission R concept car, which was unveiled last year. The latter is an all-wheel-drive model that promised 1,073 hp in qualifying trim and 626 hp in race tune. The car had a front motor with 429 horsepower and a rear-motor setup with 626 horsepower. Rumors suggest that a single-motor, rear-wheel-drive version will also be offered. For now, we can only enjoy these spy shots of the black painted, camouflaged-clad prototype of the all-electric 718 Boxster waiting for official reveal.
