Maserati MC20 Cabriolet Caught Testing at the Arctic Circle

Maserati revealed a camouflaged prototype of a convertible version of their MC20 supercar late last year, confirming that they will be building one. Spy photographers were able to picture another of those prototypes while it was undergoing cold-weather testing near the Arctic Circle.

The official press release from Maserati confirmed that the Next MC20 Cabrio will be one of a kind, the MC20 convertible version will share the same body with the coupe, which will be entirely made of carbon fiber and composite materials, and the same technique, according to the company, will be used for the future electrified version of the sports vehicle.

The new Maserati Cabrio will have a slight change to its roof. Instead of the standard soft-top, the convertible version will have a small and light pop-up hardtop roof which may have an impact on the car’s stiffness and weight.

The same race-derived 'Nettuno' twin-turbo V-6 engine with 621 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque should power the MC20 convertible from behind the driver's seat. However, due to minor weight changes, the convertible may be slower.
