2023 Mercedes AMG C43 Estate Video-Debut
Mercedes has just announced that another long roof model won’t be crossing the Atlantic, again. The C43 is getting a new trim and it will receive a more family-oriented treatment, a car category that’s more popular in Europe.
The modification won’t be limited to the exterior style, the engine will be affected too, unlike the original C43, the new one will run on the M139l instead of the V6. Despite the reduced engine power, the wagon C43 retained most of the sedan’s performance, in addition to the wagon’s practicality.
The new engine produces 402 horsepower, the car will be able to reach 62 mph in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph. You will notice that it’s a little bit slower than the coupe. And that’s certainly due to the added weight.
Mercedes announced also that more derivations of the C43 will follow soon enough, namely a coupe and a convertible.
However, the rumored plans to merge the two-door C-Class and E-Class models may suggest that the Coupe and Convertible won’t be named as 43s but as CLE 43 instead.
More interestingly, the novelty in this line of new C43s is the incorporation of the electric exhaust gas turbocharger, coming straight from Formula 1 cars, the adaptation of the engine was delayed several times, but it seems finally ready to enter production around June this year.
Mercedes introduces new derivations regularly in order to reach a wider market and appeal to more customers, a smart strategy by all standards.
