Race car enthusiasts could finally examine the race livery on the new BMW M Hybrid V8 here in the US, precisely at the Petersen Museum, Los Angeles.
The BMW M Hybrid V8 will go on the racetrack for the first time next January, and for the occasion, the car got a new impressive race livery, the paint job naturally comes in white, blue, and red; the three traditional colors of BMW M. However, for this special occasion it’s dominated by a huge M, symbolizing the M Sport series and celebrating the 50th anniversary of the BMW Motorsport GmbH.
BMW M Hybrid V8 is an endurance car that has one purpose, which is winning races, but that didn’t stop it from having an elegant design. The car was revealed in a dedicated ceremony at the Petersen Museum, Los Angeles. The final design shows that BMW opted for a huge kidney at the front, probably the largest in the brand's entire history. But it was more of a wide one, contrary to the controversial tall kidney grill we saw on the M3 and M4 models.
BMW took the occasion to announce the names of the drivers who will have the honor of sitting in the BMW M cockpit. The car will first compete in next year’s GTP class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship where two models will be driven by BMW M works drivers Connor De Phillippi, Philipp Eng, Augusto Farfus, and Nick Yelloly, While IndyCar driver Colton Herta will join the team when the car enters the 24 Hours of Daytona.
More races will follow, keeping the BMW M Hybrid busy for quite some time. The race car will appear in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), including the famous Le Mans on the Circuit de la Sarthe in France.
