2023 BMW X7 Reveal Refresh Styling Power New York
BMW has revealed its 2023 BMW X7 model, as part of the New York Roadshow, the new model has received a complete overhaul, compared to the current one, we can see new features everywhere, from exterior to interior, even the powertrain has changed.
The most obvious tweaks exterior-wise are those that concern the front fascia, with the new headlight set-up that features two sets of lights, the upper one for the daytime running lights and lower forward-illuminating headlights. It also features the new illuminated grill. The rest of the body didn’t receive much modification, save from the much larger new 23-inch wheels.
BMW was even more daring with the new interior design, putting a new curved display as the main piece, a complete change from the conventional display the car had, the instrument screen measures 12.3 inches, roughly 2 inches less than the adjacent infotainment screen. Other details were added, the most distinctive of them was the replacement of the shift knob with a small toggle paddle.
Maybe the most important feature of the new X7 is the available engine choices. Each variant will run on a different engine, further improving the car’s performance and making it appealing to a larger audience.
xDrive40i sees the most impactful change, with its new Miller-cycle turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist system. Capable of making 375 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, increases of 40 horsepower and 52 pound-feet.
While the M60i will receive a 48-volt hybrid assist, but output for the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 is unchanged at 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque.
Besides all that, there’s one common feature between the different powertrains, all of them will come with 8-speed automatic transmission, with a special “sprint” option allowing for an increased acceleration when needed.
On the technological aspect, BMW opted for more safety and driving assistance features, like the pedestrian and cyclist detection system for the automatic emergency braking. Adding to that, the updated Parking Assistant Professional makes life a little bit easier by letting the driver record a parking maneuver to execute automatically later. More safety features include the digital phone key. And the reality view that can display streets and turns overlaid on a video feed.
The car’s price has increased as expected, by around $4.000, putting the xDrive40i at $78.845 and the M60i at $104,095, while the Alpina’s price is not yet disclosed, the two first variants will be available for customers around the third quarter this year, while the Alpina’s launch is set for the start of next year.
