2025 Land Rover Discovery Details
Land rover is trying to promote the Discovery in a new light, differentiating from the two other major offerings, the Defender and Range Rover.
After The recent updates, the Range Rover and the Defender have taken the Discovery’s place as the only three-row family car in the lineup, which led some observers to anticipate its withdrawal from the scene. However, Land Rover sees things differently, Thierry Bolloré the company’s CEO, reassured everyone that the Discovery is here to stay. But With a radical update nonetheless.
Thierry Bolloré admitted that the Defender and the Ranger Rover are stepping on the Discovery’s toes, and sales data proved that when they showed how the Defender has eaten up a good portion of the Discovery’s expected sales.
The CEO also gave some hints on how the company plans to rebrand the car, he said that it will be transformed into a "real family car for the most discerning families", taking its place as an authentic family car in the luxury segment, but he did not explain exactly how they are planning to do that.
2025 Land Rover Discovery Details
All we have for now are some speculations about the next Discovery powertrain. Auto Express thinks that the Discovery and the Range Rover will share the MLA platform allowing the future Discovery to have ICE, plug-in hybrid, and EV versions, including a zero-emissions model already under development as stated by the company.
Despite all this optimism, it’s hard to see how the Discovery will maintain its place in Land rover’s lineup, any traditional updates could make it even more similar to the two other models which would hurt the car’s position even more, and other out-of-the-box modifications could turn it into a whole new car. The company has set 2025 as the date for the official reveal of the new Discovery. So all we can do for now is wait and see what the British carmaker has in store for us.
