Volvo is a world leader in premium cars, and it’s committed to staying at the forefront of car technology. Last week, the company announced that it plans to roll out five new electric or hybrid models over the next few years. The news comes from a dealer event in Miami.

Volvo's upcoming electric vehicles will include a new sedan, as well as small and large crossovers, the full size of this last one will be a replacement for the XC90, and bear a similarity to the 2021 Concept Recharge.

The automaker is following in the footsteps of other auto companies who are going all-electric, their plans will also include sporty wagon-esque models and an electric crossover positioned between the XC60 and XC90, with a production capacity of 100,000 units per year.

The company will use its 2.3-million-square-foot Ridgeville, South Carolina, plant to produce electric cars. The Swedish automaker is contemplating an "ambitious recruiting strategy” to prepare for the new EVs, the production of the first electric crossover will begin late this year.

Volvo is committed to an electric future, and its upcoming lineup of EVs will make full use of the electric platform that the automaker developed for its next-generation vehicles.
