Alfa romeo show new sports car early 2023
Alfa Romeo is promising a new sports car by the start of 2023, confirmed by the boss Jean-Philippe Imparato and the mother company Stellantis.
Although it’s still early to talk about an actual debut, Alfa Romeo is very confident about publishing some official sketches, renders, and first teaser images by the start of 2023. Imparato said that these first sketches may reveal that the new car will borrow some design lines from the Alfa Romeo T33 Stradale.
In accordance to the company's new strategy, most new sports car designs had been delayed to give enough room for some commercial models like the Alfa Romeo Tonale SUV. The company entered the SUV segment to benefit from the higher profitability; giving the sports carmaker enough breathing space to design more sports cars in the future.
About the powertrain, some initial speculations said that the new car will be full-electric, following the company's goal of transforming into a pure-electric brand by 2025. But, by seeing how soon the car may come out of the production line, there’s a good chance that it will be another ICE.
Jean-Philippe Imparato kept both possibilities open when he said: “For the moment, I have two scenarios: full ICE or full EV,” adding “It will be very exciting, very selective, and very expensive.”
The boss also hinted at the new car’s design: “I can say yes, but I can’t say anything else. We have so many fantastic ideas based on our iconic history.” When he was referring to the T33 Stradale and the possibility of some similarities between the two cars.
