Amazon launchesDaily bite amazon begins delivering packages with evs

Amazon launches its EV vans fleet, joining a host of other corporations that work to reduce their carbon footprint.

Climate change remains a hot topic and fingers are always pointed at large corporations, due to their extremely large operations and the amount of pollution that results from it. That’s why Amazon’s decision to rely on an electric delivery fleet is considered a hugely positive step, paving the way for a more sustainable future if more companies followed suit.

The e-commerce giant has rolled out its eco-friendly electric delivery vans (EVs) this week. The vehicles were developed in partnership with Rivian Automotive, and Amazon participated in every step of the development process, making sure that the vehicles are up to their driver safety and environmental sustainability standards.

The electrification process started a couple of years ago, announced by Jeff Bezos himself in 2019. The company intends on procuring 100.000 electric vehicles to cover the entirety of its delivery operations. The project also falls neatly into Amazon’s general de-carbonization strategy that hopes to transform the company into a zero carbon company by 2024.

However, the introduction of these electric vans will be gradual; the newly launched ones will start in a few select cities including Baltimore, Chicago, Nashville, Phoenix, San Diego, and Seattle.

But amazon promised that the electrification process will soon include more than 100 U.S. cities before the start of 2023 and operate the entirety of the promised 100.000 vehicles by 2030.

Climate change is a huge issue that impacts several aspects of our daily lives, even cars are suffering from it; severe heat waves and storms are becoming more frequent every year.
