Evidently, the Audi RS2 is not as popular as other more familiar names like the RS3, RS4, RS5, and RS6, but experts agree that it’s an underrated performance car that could’ve gotten much more attention in other circumstances.
The RS2 is considered to be the ancestor of all modern Audi performance cars. The model was launched in the 1990s as a prelude to a new, exciting era in Audi’s history. A lot of RS2 units still live on, scattered across the world. Modified or not, the car has an intriguing classic nineties style, and Abimelec Design built on that to create a heavily modified version featuring a widebody kit and a distinctive pink color named Ruby Stone Red.
The RWB Porsche influence is clear on this one, Abimelec equipped the special RS2 with a set of flared front and rear wheel arches, giving the car an entirely new style. The front is fitted with a prominent black splitter, and the grill is adorned with a gold color Audi logo. The car rolls on a set of bespoke wheels featuring black spokes and chrome outer lips.
You may be wondering why an iconic Audi model has so much Porsche influence. Well, the car was the result of a Porsche-Audi collaboration. The original RS2 heart was a modified 2.2-liter inline-five engine. Porsche added to it a larger turbocharger, a new intercooler, a camshaft, and a bespoke ECU, boosting its output to 311 hp and 302 lb-ft. Not only that; Porsche also designed and manufactured the original brakes, 911 Turbo wheels, and a bespoke suspension setup for the Audi RS2.
