EngineBMW builds last v-12

The V12 engine will be discontinued and no longer in production.

One of the most iconic engines from BMW history has reached its end, BMW has announced it will cease production of its long-running V-12 engine. The supercharged M760LI xDrive luxury sedan will be the last to carry the engine.

"The last BMW 7-Series vehicles with the V-12 have been produced," According to a BMW spokesperson.

BMW’s high-performance models have always been renowned for their powerful engines. The BMW V-12 engine configuration was first introduced in the E32 7-Series—at that time it was the most powerful naturally aspirated production engine at its introduction.

The V-12 was also the first type of engine to be offered in a production car. It is also the first to be offered with a six-speed manual transmission, in the BMW 850i.

The V-12 in the picture above is the S70/2. The engine is based on the company's first V-12 design and is aimed to be used in the McLaren F. It is not surprising that BMW would be considering making an upgraded version of the V-12 part of their future lineup since it has long been a staple of every sports car manufacturer and has seen success in many categories.

The future of every vehicle depends on its present. And preserving its value is just as important as knowing how to care for it.
