Another version of the BMW X2 was spotted under camouflage, hinting at its electric sibling that may debut soon.
Although BMW didn’t exactly specify the name of this EV version, we can take the liberty to expect a similar naming logic to that of the X1 and the electric iX1.
So, how do we know that this is indeed the awaited iX2? Well, first we have the large sticker on the back, saying “Electrified Vehicle.” The absence of exhaust pipes is also a big indicator. At the front, the grill is almost entirely covered, in the same fashion as other previously revealed BMW EVs.
The iX2 naturally adopts the same design features as its sibling, following the new body style for all the new generation BMWs. Perhaps, the most distinctive features of this iX2 are the pair of boxy bold LED lights and the funky, tall lip spoiler.
The iX2 has the same powertrain we find under the iX1, meaning that it will have similar performance figures, the two electric motors provide an output of 313 horsepower and 364 pound-feet of torque, capable of reaching the 62 miles mark in 5.7 seconds. Currently, the iX1 has a 257-272 miles range. However, the iX2 sleeker body is expected to perform better in this aspect.
As it stands now, the iX1 isn’t available in the US, and we’re still in the dark concerning the iX2, all we can do now is wait and see.
