BMW published a new teaser video, confirming the upcoming launch date on September 27 at 6:01 PM EDT.

Besides the awaited Rendezvous, BMW gave us a brief taste of the XM illuminated front and engine sound. The car will be commercialized as a performance crossover and is expected to be very popular here in the US.

The front illumination is composed of an illuminated grille outline, running lights, and separate headlights, showing that the production model didn’t wander too far from the concept that we saw a few months back.

The Bavarian carmaker has already announced the specs of the XM model; the car will run on a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with a plug-in hybrid, making 644 horsepower (485 kilowatts) and 650 pound-feet (884 Newton-meters) of torque. The electric part of the drivetrain will give the car a 30 miles range, according to the EPA test. Power is transmitted to the wheels through a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic. To give the crossover a sportier feel, BMW engineers gave it anti-roll bars and up to 2.5 degrees of rear-wheel steering, and optional 23-inch wheels.

BMWBMW xm teaser video debut on september-27

Rumors are already talking about a more powerful version, allegedly named the Black Label; this special version is expected to have 740 hp (552 kW) and 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm).

This video and previous spy shots gave us a good idea about the XM exterior design. The interior, however, is still secret. Some pictures suggested the presence of multiple screens for the instruments and infotainment system, and leather covering for the dashboard and center console. But we still don’t know what to expect exactly.

Meanwhile, BMW's factory in Spartanburg, South Carolina is getting ready to start the XM production come December, with sales starting early in 2023. The price in Europe is expected to be around €110,000.

The illuminated grill is a neat, elegant feature that BMW has been bragging about for a while now. But once you own it you should find a way to properly protect it against dust, scratches, and any other risk that it has to face.

The solution is simple! A custom-made car cover from Coverking!
