Chinese carmaker GAC will launch a new luxury hypercar in a renewed attempt to enter the US market.

GAC automotive group is not as famous as other Chinese manufacturers like Geely for example, but it also produces some really impressive cars. The latest of which will be a luxury hypercar called the Aion. GAC published some initial renderings showing a four-door sleek design with two butterfly doors. The main objective of the new model is to create a car worthy of the North American market, a car that will create a beachhead and pave the way for further expansion into the United States. Following the successful business model of its compatriot Geely.

Aion will be built on the GAC’s very own multi-faceted all-electric AEP 3.0 platform. This allows the car to reach new heights in EV performance. According to GAC, the car will be offered in two trims, the “base” will be capable of finishing the 0-60 mph run in 2.3 seconds. While the Hyper GT Ultimate trim will top that, reaching the 60-mph mark in 1.9 seconds. Needless to say, the price will match the speed; the base trim will be offered at $184,767 USD, while the top trim will cost $242,237. The company refrained from sharing more information about the car’s entrails. But as an educated guess, this level of acceleration requires north of 700 horsepower, a power level that can only be reached using a triple or quad motor setup.

As for the design, details are equally scarce. We only know that two of the four doors will be butterfly doors, something that resembles the Koenigsegg Gemera.

The Aion is not the only project on GAC’s to-do list. The company is also preparing a two-door high-powered hypercar called the Hyper SSR, capable of making 1,200 horsepower. There’s no release date yet, but based on the level of detail on the published sketches, we cannot expect a date earlier than the summer of 2023.

The level of sophistication that modern cars have reached is impressive. But one of its main side effects is that it increases the cars’ vulnerability to outside elements. The best way to mitigate the risks is to use high-quality car covers, those made by Coverking, to be precise. Coverking car covers are tested against UV rays, wind, snow, rain, hail, and any other climate or environmental element that your car may face. Our custom-made covers are also designed to minimize the effects of frequent use and minor accidents on your car. In short, if you want your car to outlive you, you should get your Coverking car cover now.
