Drako Dragon Electric Hypercar Luxury SUV

Another model from Drako is ready to roll, the new Drako Dragon is a hyper-car in a luxury SUV format with some impressive performance figures.

Drako Dragon is just the second model from the supercar producing company and it’s as impressive as the first one, the new Dragon can go from 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds while delivering a lot of luxury features at the same time.

We got acquainted with Drako and its CEO Dean Drako back in 2019 when they first unveiled their first model, The Drako GTE. The supercar was an electric beast capable of producing more than 225 kW on each of its two motors, despite it being built on a repurposed chassis of the Fisker Karma.

Drako is a company based in San Jose, created by Dean Drako. The massive success of the Drako GTE was not a stroke of luck. The founder participated in the creation and running of many engineering companies, like Barracuda Networks, Shiv Sikand, and IC Manage.

And the talented team has previously worked on other innovative cars like the  Ferrari 458 Italia, Maserati GranCabrio, and the recently baptized  Lightyear One.

Now, their second project is promising to be a great follow-up to the initial success. The Drako Dragon is described by the company itself in a brief statement.

Engineered in Silicon Valley and designed and crafted in Italy, the stunning, all-electric Drako Dragon takes electric hypercars to the next level. Designed and built to redefine the way the world thinks about automotive performance, style, and luxury, the Dragon is an entirely new kind of hypercar–one that wasn’t possible until now.”

Unlike the GTE, the Dragon is the first pure Drako car, built from the ground up by the company’s engineering team under the leadership of Lowie Vermeersch and in collaboration with the GranStudio design team.

On the exterior, the car is a sleek-looking SUV with gull-wing doors, but we still have no idea about the Dragon’s interior. Drako says that the cabin is covered in the finest European leather, and the seats will offer “world-class passenger comfort” as described by Drako himself.   Customers will also benefit from ample space for additional luggage capacity, the company learned a lot from the GTE and made sure to make that the Dragon will take its place as the best performance/luxury SUV on the market.

The Dragon shines the most in performance tests. With 2,000 horsepower, the car can go from 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds and keep going until it reaches 200 mph. this high performance is achievable thanks to the impressive DriveOS Quad Motor Powertrain, previously tested on the GTE, and equipped with its in-house battery system, and the nanosecond-precise control of the Drako DriveOS vehicle architecture.

Drako didn’t mention any price when introducing the car, however, it assured everybody that the Dragon will be “competitively priced,” and in the same range as other luxury SUVs, like the Lamborghini Urus, which costs at least $220,000.
