Ford E-Transit Custom Electric Van Europe Debut
A new small van from ford, and this time with an electric motor inside. The E-Transit Custom will be destined for Europe only, as per tradition for all small vans. Meanwhile, The US market should remain content with the larger version, the Transit, and the outdated one the Transit Connect. The new van is another step in Ford’s strategy to full electrification, the plan includes three other EV vans, before the end of 2024.
In general, the E-Transit Custom looks similar to its gas-powered counterpart. However, ford slapped a brand-new funky front on It!
The grill has a cool new pattern, with an LED headlight running across the entirety of the front. The rear LED lights are redesigned too. The charging port was placed on the also new front bumper, right under the headlight.
No info was disclosed yet about the motor or the batteries, all we know is that the E-Transit Custom will have a range of 236 miles. With a potential 266 horsepower.
What’s cool about the new E-Transit Custom is that it will have the same technology used in the groundbreaking F-150 Lightning. Including the Pro Power Onboard that allows the van to power tools or other vehicles. DC fast-charging capability will also be available for the E-Transit Custom.
The production start is scheduled for next year, precisely in Ford’s Kocaeli factory in turkey. The workforce there has substantial experience building vans, as most other Ford vans are manufactured there.
The passenger version of the Transit Custom aka the Tourneo Custom will also be built there at some point in the future, as promised by Ford.
