Electric Vehicle Subscription Service Expands in California

Customers now can personalize their Model 3 and Model Y by using a payment dial.

In a bold move that could change the automotive landscape, the electric vehicle subscription company Autonomy, is now available to consumers living in California’s High Desert communities.

Deserts are a dangerous place for electric vehicles. The dust, dirt, and grime can clog the vehicle’s charging ports and drain its energy reserves without proper care. That's why Autonomy has opened its doors to consumers living in those communities.

The expansion of EV charging infrastructure in the High Desert region of California is part of a larger initiative to provide EV drivers with greater access to charging stations. Now, there are more than 200 charging stations in the High Desert region, providing commuters with 13 Tesla Superchargers along the I-15 and SR-14 highways.

California is already home to the most electric vehicle charging stations in the country, and that number is only expected to grow as more people switch to electric vehicles. According to recent reports, the state accounts for about 30% of total charging stations/ports in the United States.

The company offers a subscription model that removes the hassles of ownership and traditional leases or loans. It covers the costs of registration and licensing fees, routine maintenance, roadside assistance, and standard wear and tear on tires.

A payment dial is a personalization option for Model 3 and Model Y that allows customers to choose their own monthly payment amount. The program allows customers to pay a monthly fee for their Tesla vehicle, rather than having to buy it outright. Rates can generally range from $490 per month with an initial $4,900 start fee to $1,000 per month with an initial $1,000 start fee.

The move comes as part of a broader effort to encourage the adoption of EVs and other low-emission vehicles through financial incentives and increased availability of charging infrastructure throughout the state.
