Ford-f150 lightning free charging
Ford F-150 Lightning owners are now eligible for 250 kW of free charging at all EA stations. Thanks to a fruitful Ford and Electrify America partnership.
The deal is similar to that of the Mustang Mach-E. Ford and EA were waiting for the Lightning sales to reach a certain threshold across all 50 states for it to be eligible for the free charging offer.
So now every F-150 Lightning -except Pro buyers- have the right to get 250 kilowatt-hours of fast-charging at any EA charging station, a quantity equivalent to almost three full charges in the standard-range battery, or a range of 575 miles. The offer can be claimed through the FordPass Rewards app, and the charging speed can reach 54 miles of range in 10 minutes for the standard range battery, while the extended range one can go from 15 percent to 80 percent in about 41 minutes.
Such incentives are becoming more and more frequent among EV makers. Free charging offers like this one have the objective of encouraging EV owners to charge more often at Fast charging stations outside.
Numerous examples were recorded recently, other than ford; Volvo, Harley-Davidson, and Kia offer various amounts of free energy in collaboration with electric charging providers.
Other car makers have chosen a different formula, but with similar goals. Genesis, Mercedes-Benz, Polestar, and Porsche all offer 30-minute segments of free charging for the first two years of owning an EV, Especially with certain vehicles like BMW i4, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Volkswagen ID.4.
Luxury brands have proven more generous with their approach, Audi, Cadillac, and Lucid for example are offering three years of free unlimited charging.
A more basic idea was adopted for mass-produced EV models like the Chevrolet Bolt, Nissan Leaf, and Mazda MX-50 where car makers offer credits ranging from $250 to $500.
