Ford has introduced a thoughtful innovation for drivers of the new powerful F-150 Lightning. The pickup truck is the first in its class to offer the Intelligent Backup Power (IBP) system, which will be able to provide continuous power extending the time people can survive without relying on outside electricity sources.
To benefit from this function, owners must first acquire an 80-amp charging station, which is standard on all Extended Range-equipped F-150s. A Ford dealership can offer owners the Ford Charge Station Pro—also known as the 80-amp charging station—for $1,310.00 if they do not already own it.
Owners must also install a home charging system, which consists of an inverter, a transfer switch, and a small battery. With this charging system, the main power source is extended in the case of prolonged blackouts.
Ford's Home Integration System will be sold by its partner, solar energy provider Sunrun, and costs up to $3,895.00, announced by Matthew Stover, Director of Charging & Energy Services, on LinkedIn. The Intelligent Backup Power System is capable of supplying up to 9.6 kW of backup power for many days, as long as the truck connected to it has been charged beforehand.
