Honda Says 2022 Will Be The Year of The SUV

 

Recently, Honda gave us our first look at the new EV, teasing the shape and overall design. It has now taken things a step further by discussing what to expect for the rest of 2022.

"We're doubling down in 2022 with what we're calling the year of the SUV where we are introducing an all-new HR-V, CR-V, CR-V Hybrid, and Pilot just this year,"

Jessica Fini, senior manager of public relations at American Honda, stated, according to Motor1.

Although details on the HR-V's powertrain have yet to be confirmed by Honda, a leak out of California disclosed that the model will come with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

While the new CR-V has already been seen in China, where it appears to be a slightly smaller version of the Prologue EV concept car, it is unclear whether this is the same model that will be available in the United States.

Honda has yet to release technical specifications for its new CR-V. Still, carryover 1.5-litre turbo engines will likely be an option, and a hybrid model will also be available. And there are more hybrid powertrains on the way, as confirmed by Honda America Vice President of Sales Mamadou Diallo.

Although there is no official model of the Pilot yet, Honda's Acura MDX, previously based on the Pilot, could offer a glimpse into what the company is planning for its new model.
