Honda will start the production of a hydrogen-powered version of its popular CR-V SUV in the U.S. by 2024.
Honda is readying its next vehicle for the U.S. market , and it will be powered by hydrogen cells. The company announced it will build a production version of its hydrogen-powered Honda CR-V in Ohio which is expected to go on sale in 2024. As part of Honda’s commitment to expanding the use of zero-emissions vehicles, this new model will also offer plug-in capability for its battery pack to make it more competitive with rival models.
The new model will be the first to use a hydrogen power unit resulting from a collaboration with General Motors. And while the automaker doesn't say exactly what kind of engine will come from GM, it does say that it's been working closely with the company to make sure its technology is reliable and safe for use with hydrogen fuel cells.
