Hyundai Subsidiary Unveils Flying Car Concept 2028 Launch

Hyundai is reviving the idea of flying cars through its new concept the eVTOL.

The concept of flying cars is not exactly recent, the idea has been floating around for many decades now, and a great number of startups have tried before but none of them succeed in reaching the production phase. Now Hyundai is raising our hopes again through its US subsidiary Supernal, the design body behind the new concept eVTOL.

“Advanced Air Mobility market.” Has entered Hyundai’s scope in the last few months. Materialized in the creation of its US-based branch Supernal. The fruit of its work is the new eVTOL unveiled at the Farnborough International Airshow in England, showing how the passenger cabin might look in the future, as a first step of the design and development process.

The eVTOL cabin was inspired by a regular car’s interior, and the similarities between the two are numerous, starting with the five seats and their control panels influenced by the car’s central panel. Each of the five seats is equipped with a charging port and a storage compartment, the overhead light also takes inspiration from the car’s sunroof.

Access to the pod is as smooth as it gets thanks to the grab handles on the vehicle's doors and seatbacks. Supernal also plays on the sustainability aspect, by using materials like recyclable carbon fiber, reinforced thermoplastic, plant-based leather, and recycled plastic fabric in its design. The pod’s structure is built from forged carbon fiber making it solid enough while keeping it as light as possible.

Hyundai hopes to certify the eVTOL for commercial use in the US by 2028. And expand to Europe soon after. The eVTOL is not a one-off project, Hyundai’s agenda holds several similar projects that tap into the possibilities of air travel and sustainable energies. Maybe Hyundai’s resources and expertise will be the determining factors to finally make the dream of  flying cars a reality.

As cool as it sounds, flying cars still have a long way to go before becoming a regular means of transport. This means that regular cars will still be with us for a little longer. This is a fact that should make you consider the longevity of your own vehicle. how can you extend your car’s lifespan? the simple answer is through Coverking’s car covers!

Coverking’s high-quality covers are custom-made to your car’s exact shape and measurements, allowing you to provide your car with the best protection out-there against the weather, dust, spills, and even minor accidents.
