Koengisegg 300 MPH Really Scary
Koenigsegg is preparing to break the 300-mph barrier with its model the Jesko Absolut, Ehra-Lessien test track is the most probable arena to host the attempt.
Since its birth back in March 2020, Koenigsegg’s Jesko Absolut was designated as the promised car to break the 300-mph barrier. The Swedish carmaker was so confident about their car to the point where they promised that no future model would be able to break the record again. Koenigsegg is the latest of a very short list of car makers who have sought fame through this extreme speed contest, Bugatti was satisfied with its Chiron Super Sport 300+, while Molsheim has also reached 304.77 mph. now it’s Koenigsegg’s turn to prove its worth.
Christian von Koenigsegg has ensured everyone in a recent interview with Top Gear magazine that the company is seriously considering the attempt, he said "it would be a shame not to show what it can do" the Jesko Absolute is a beast of a car, and previous simulations and real-life trial have proven that it’s more than capable to reach the 300 mark and go beyond it as well.
However, von Koenigsegg emphasized that we shouldn’t get too excited to the point of recklessness: "At the same time, it's really scary stuff. When we did the prevailing record of a homologated production car in two directions at 277 mph in Nevada on an open road [with the Agera RS], it's just super dangerous. I would like to have a closed-off area, maybe like Ehra-Lessien where it's very wide, where you can take out some of that side of it because it's scary enough anyway. We'd definitely want to have our hand over it just for safety reasons. Checking the venue, the road, having an experienced driver."

The track in question is the Ehra-Lessien test track located in Lower Saxony and owned by Volkswagen Group, the circuit represents the perfect ground to attempt such feats, because of its special design and the on-site safety measures.
Ehra-Lessien has a good record of hosting such speed runs, notably those of the Chiron Super Sport 300+ and the Veyron Super Sport.
So now Koenigsegg only needs VW approval to use it, but that may be a little tricky, if the Jesko Absolut succeeds it would dethrone the homemade W16 hypercar, and if anything goes wrong VW would find itself in an uncomfortable situation.
In the end, Christian von Koenigsegg took the chance to criticize how these record-chasing hypercars are categorized, some of them even lack the most basic safety measures, to the point where they become illegal on public roads. He argued that it’s not fair to pit them against homologated cars like the Jesko Absolut. He said: "If you bring that [non-homologated cars] into the mix, you can bring in these 'rocket cars' from the salt flats – they don't have airbags, or emissions controls or OBD either. And they go 1,000 mph."
