There’s no escape from electrification in the coming years, and Lamborghini is gearing up for the long-awaited transition. But how would that affect the company’s design process?

In a few years’ time, the entirety of Lamborghini’s Lineup will be electrified, but to the delight of Lambo’s lovers, the design boss Mitja Borkert assured the press that the design direction isn't changing. The statement was made during the Milan Monza motor show, Borkert said that "emotional performance." Will remain the basic principle for all future designs. He added: “They will always look like spaceships, always be inspiring, always cars that with whatever technology they have will have the sound and the emotion to touch you”.

The Italian supercar company had previously experimented with a limited-run electric car, called the Lamborghini Sian FKP 37. This EV runs on a low-capacity supercapacitor device, and it was heavily inspired by the Terzo Millennio concept from 2017.

The futuristic design of the Sian FKP 37. Gives us a good idea of what future Lamborghini EVs would look like, but as one would expect, they will have more conventional electric powertrains.

If you look at it from another perspective, electrification will give Lamborghini designers more freedom to express their design vision, especially in the absence of exhaust pipes. Borkert had a word to say about this detail; "with the muffler, we can use that area for aero… in a very cool way," he added: "I'm convinced we can introduce smart aero in the future."

All these electrification plans are set to begin in 2024 with the year 2028 as a release date for the First Lamborghini pure EV. Meanwhile, we should be content with another gasoline-powered vehicle scheduled for this year.

Barring some hints, we still have no info about Lambo’s future EVs. However, the company has recently filed for a trademark for the Revuelto name which could be the name of some future EV model that’s still in its inception phase.

Car designers often go wild with their designs, that’s a good thing! but it makes it extremely tricky to find a standard car cover that fits.

Coverking realized this early on, that’s why the leading car cover company makes high-quality custom-made covers exclusively.

Coverking inventory includes custom-made covers for all the important elements in your car’s exterior & interior. Made from robust materials, Coverking covers will protect your car from harsh weather conditions and other potential damage.
