Lotus to Recreate Lost Classics as Modern Day Sports Cars
With a new Advanced Performance division in place, Lotus is ready to recreate some of its classic designs in the form of modern-day sports cars.
Lotus has announced plans to re-create some classic sports cars, continuing on from its recent success with the Emira. The new cars will be made in a modern-day form, replicating the original models with their futuristic design cues and sleek lines.
The automaker is now looking in a new direction, and that means electric SUVs. Lotus wants to bring some classics back into production and make them available again to new generations.

Lotus Advanced Performance (LAP) division which was recently created at Lotus Car UK, will put its own twist on classic models from the company's rich history. According to Simon Lane, director of LAP, the firm is pushing "for very high-performance solutions that are completely bespoke and personalized".
Designers will focus on reimagined sports and concept cars from the 1960s for the 21st century, with a modern design approach. These modern interpretations will range from flowing, dynamic lines to highly functional aerodynamic body shapes and minimalist exterior accents.

The first project from LAP was the Emira GT4, an ultra-lightweight performance car that boasts a 3.5-liter supercharged V6 mated to 400 horsepower on tap.
However, the Eletre SUV is the first-ever electric vehicle from Lotus, it marks the company’s first foray into the electric market. This new LAP car will be different from the traditional cars on the market and surely stir up some wonderful sales.
Hopefully, Lotus will follow through with the same electrification path in the future. There are many classic Lotus cars that would make legitimate track stars if the automaker decided to revive them as electric vehicles.
