In a rare event, luxury carmaker Maserati and toy manufacturer Barbie came together to make a unique car, a Pink Barbie car.
Mattel's Barbie carefully selected Maserati to deliver a car that reflects all the different aspects of the famous doll universe and lifestyle, the two companies have applied a pink coat on the new Maserati SUV, the Grecale, the car is supposed to represent the multi-facets of a modern girl’s life, ranging from serious business meetings to fun glamorous events.
As you may expect, The Barbie Maserati Grecale is not intended for mass production. In fact, the model will be treated as a unique exhibit, with only two models made. One of them was already unveiled as part of the 2022 Neiman Marcus Fantasy Gifts at a special event in Los Angeles. The beautiful thing is that the Barbie car is serving an honorable purpose; a portion of the sale price will be going to support “equal opportunities and removing barriers for girls”
the global initiative that Barbie is conducting with numerous charities around the world. The fate of the second unit is not revealed yet; Maserati says that more details will be announced in 2023.
Now back to the car, the chosen Grecale is a Trofeo version running on a 530-hp V6 Nettuno engine. There’s no need to explain the exterior style, the car is obviously bearing the famous Barbie pink, complete with the Barbie logo on the side. The exterior coat is said to create a remarkable rainbow effect when exposed to the sun. On the inside, seats, dashboards, carpets, and doors are all covered in black leather, contrasted with pink seams and branded headrests featuring the famous “B”. [i]
