Massive BMW XM To Feature 50e Trim and Black Label Badge

New details about the new BMW XM SUV are published, as we inch closer to the official launch date.

The new German SUV was the subject of a big controversy, labeled as ugly by some, and voted the best-looking SUV by others. In any case, as the saying goes any publicity is good publicity, especially as the official launch date is coming closer.

BMW has recently started a trickle of new information, answering some important questions about this new beast, the XM will be the first standalone M car since the M1, running on a 750-horsepower V8 plug-in hybrid engine.  On the same subject, BMW has confirmed the rumors about the car using the Red and Black label naming conventions, as well as those talking about the XM featuring an XM 50e trim, running on the same powertrain we find on the 750e.

But perhaps the most important news is about the Black Label, the XM will have a black label trim and it will be the most powerful of all, with a 750 hp V8 gas and plug-in hybrid powertrain. This setup will allow the car to go for the 60-miles mark in less than four seconds.

That’s not all, the SUV will also come in a six-cylinder plug-in hybrid version but it will be limited to certain markets only. The common feature between all XM trims is that the transmission will happen through BMW’s eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

Massive BMW XM To Feature 50e Trim and Black Label Badge

Having a black label trim is happy news for BMW fans here in the states, while their European peers should be content with other trims due to the tight European emissions regulations, particularly hard on V8 powertrains.

We should welcome the entry-level XM here in the US later this year with the price tag starting at $150,000. The black label XM is expected to arrive at the start of 2023 with the price hovering around $200,000. But it won’t be an easy ride for the XM, the competition includes names like the Lamborghini Urus and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid.
