McLaren has partnered with aerospace giant Lockheed Martin to design a new generation of supercars, which are "radical and futuristic".
Recently, McLaren Automotive announced a collaborative deal with Lockheed Martin Skunk Works. The collaboration will see Lockheed Martin design and develop new technologies for the luxury vehicle manufacturer based on its experience and knowledge of aerodynamics and aerospace materials. The joint venture between McLaren and Lockheed Martin will witness the two working together to produce a vehicle that combines technology from each group.
As a top-secret research and development facility that partakes in some of the most cutting-edge work in one of the most progressive industries, Lockheed Martin Skunk is responsible for some of the revolutionary ideas, like the hypersonic aircraft concept, Darkstar used in the Top Gun: Maverick movie.
McLaren Automotive and Lockheed Martin are inextricably linked by their pursuit for speed, both in racing and in the sky with their respective nameplates. It is believed that McLaren intends to make only one model at a time through its partnership with Lockheed Martin Skunk Works. It is not yet known whether this will be an electric car or a hybrid model. Still, it is expected that McLaren will use some of its expertise from Formula One racing to make their new car faster than any other road-legal vehicle on sale today.
