Spied Audi Last SQ5 out Burning Fuel Before Electrification

The Audi SQ5 has appeared on the track again, for some hot weather testing.

The SQ5 is the sporty spin-off of the well-known SUV, this model may be the last gas-powered SQ5 before the new electric version takes over. But will it provide the same driving sensation as the powerful 349-hp turbo V6 we’re used to?

The most recent spy photos look promising, with a lot of hints proving that the new Audi SQ5 is taking a similar path as the Q5 range but with some interesting updates nonetheless.

In comparison to the previous testing model, we saw back in March, we see a good number of similarities, starting with the upright slats below the lights and the new bumper. The rest of the front fascia is hard to recognize due to the heavy camouflage. So, we’re forced to wait for the official debut to make a real comparison.

On the side view, the most prominent feature is the new wheels and a larger brake setup. On the rear, Audi is trying to keep things hidden as well, especially with the dummy rear lights, one thing the carmaker can’t hide is the exhaust tips. The shiny exhaust setup opens the door for speculation about the car’s engine.

Audi is faced with a critical choice here, it could go with the familiar turbo V6, considering that the SQ5 will go electric in a few years. Or it can go with the trend and downsize it. One thing for sure is that the new SQ5 should imperatively be more powerful than the last model whether it was with the old engine or with a modified one.
