Lamborghini is going off-road with a new version of the Huracan, named the Huracan Sterrato.

Lamborghini made a reputation for itself in the automotive world, as the surprise maker, giving us the most daring new concepts every now and then. The latest of which is the off-road going Huracan Sterrato, half supercar, half off-roader, and all power.

The Sterrato will be officially revealed in Miami on November 30th, but for now, we have these amazing pictures that demonstrate the full design prowess of the Italian carmaker.

Lamborghini claims that this car will create “a new segment in the super sports car world”. Although that may sound a bit exaggerated, the Huracan Sterrato is certainly opening the doors for something brand-new that’s worth exploring.

The supercar has been in development since 2019, the year when we discovered an off-road-focused concept Lamborghini. Much of the concept’s details were carried over to the Sterrato final design, except for some design bits, like the roof-mounted lights, the titanium roll cage, and front and rear skid plates.

Thankfully, the front LED lights and the flared wheel arches were maintained in the final design. Other small details were obviously borrowed from other Huracan versions, like the Huracan EVO small lip spoiler.

The off-road tone of the Sterrato stems mainly from the raised ride height; the car is 1.85 inches higher than the regular Huracan. Add to that, the wider track, the increased chassis bracing, and the bigger sidewall. This combination was put to action previously in a teaser video, showing the Sterrato racing a dirt bike.

Adding the Huracan EVO's huge brakes to the mix was necessary, considering the presence of a 5.2-liter V10 beast hiding inside. This engine makes 640 bhp and 600 Nm of torque.

Using this V10 here on this new Huracan may hold a lot more significance than we may think; this might be the last time we see a pure ICE powertrain in a production Lamborghini ever.

The engine’s power is transmitted to the wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, recalibrated for off-road driving. The all-wheel drive option is expected to add more acceleration capabilities to the Sterrato, creating a true contender to the EVO’s 0-62mph time of 3.3 seconds.

But all of this still doesn’t answer the main question, where did the Sterrato idea come from?

This may be unknown to most, but Lamborghini had a brief affair with rallying during the 1970s, and now the company claims that the new Huracan Sterrato draws inspiration from the desert-going Jarama and Urraco rally cars, both designed and produced in that wild era.

Going off-road adds more challenges to the car. The environment becomes harsher and more aggressive towards the car, and that requires additional protection gear to keep the vehicle in top-notch condition.
