Nikola Tre BEV Approved for Incentive Program as Zero-Emission Vehicle

Nikola Corporation, the electric vehicle (EV) technology company, announced that its Nikola Tre BEV has been approved for the New York Truck Voucher Incentive Program (NYTVIP).

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) administers the NYTVIP, a zero-emission vehicle incentive program which helps fleets reduce initial costs associated with adopting these new technologies.

Consequently, Nikola Motor Company's Nikola Tre BEV model sales are now eligible for a state-sponsored incentive, which could be worth up to $185,000 per vehicle. Additionally, a trade-in requirement is in place for the program.

The Nikola Tre BEV will have the longest range among current zero-emission Class 8 tractors.

The cabover on the Tre is designed to be more comfortable for the driver, who has better visibility than other trucks in its class. The cabover design also makes maintenance points accessible for quick repair or replacement.

"By qualifying for both California's and New York's incentive programs, Nikola is able to make an impact on two major markets with high commercial traffic volume," Michael Erickson, Nikola's Global Head of Strategic Business Planning, shared his thoughts.

It's clear to see that the private and public sectors are making technological advancements in heavy duty zero-emission vehicle adoption that will likely lead to a cleaner and safer future for us all. What once seemed like a far-off dream is beginning to become a reality, and it's because of the commitment of many individuals and organizations within these sectors.
