Stellantis has made no official announcements regarding the new model, but Antonio Filosa, chief operating officer of Stellantis South America, has shared some details with local media. The forthcoming new 1200 model is expected to feature hybrid technology in Brazil.
Two engine choices will be offered: a gas-powered engine and a diesel-powered one. The gasoline engine of 2.0 liters will be a four-cylinder Tigershark engine, with an output of about 160 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque. The Multijet II turbodiesel generates 203 horsepower and around 325 pound-feet of torque.

If Ram's upcoming all-electric version of the 1500 is successful, a similar move for its smaller offering would be logical. It is possible that an all-electric 1200 will be released a few years later since the Stellantis motor plant in Minas Gerais plans to produce only electric motors by 2030, but we can't say for sure.
According to reports, the 1500's baby brother will be based on the Stellantis Small Wide 4x4 platform.
The 1200 model designation is used in the Middle East for the car sold there as the Fullback. We hope to see it in the US market in a more powerful form. The first Ram's foray into the segment will compete against some established players, as well as the eagerly awaited next-generation Ranger.[1]
