Alpha Motor Corporation

Alpha Motor Corporation (AMC for short) presents its new e-pickup wolf pack: the Alpha Wolf and Alpha Wolf+. The young start-up company from Irvine, California, has two electrically powered pickup models in its upcoming portfolio in addition to other electric vehicles.

The wolf pack comes with quite compact dimensions, which is relatively small for this species even by European standards. Such small pickups were very popular, especially in the 60s to the 90s, which Japanese brands mostly dominated.

The Design

In fact, the look is based on the old small pickups from the past. So you might think that the Alpha Wolf is the result of a cross between the Datsun 620 (from the 70s) and a modern electric vehicle. Who knows, maybe this touch of nostalgia is needed to gain a foothold in the already highly competitive new electric vehicle market.

The small, compact Alpha Wolf shares its base with the Alpha Jax, an electric crossover utility vehicle with a 4×4 drive from AMC. The manufacturer describes it as a "multi-purpose electric commercial vehicle".

Its two-door cabin accommodates two passengers, while the spacious cargo area holds around 950 liters. Another storage space is located under the front hood, where the engine is in classic models. Its lavishly flared wheel arches offer space for 16 to 18-inch wheels fitted with off-road tires.

In April, AMC also announced its Alpha Wolf+ electric pickup truck. This extended version of the Wolf EV comes with an extended cabin and a more powerful drive. The overall design was largely retained here. The most obvious change is undoubtedly the extended cabin (with rear suicide doors), which now has two more passengers.

At a glance, other small differences are noticeable on the Wolf+, mainly affecting various attachments/accessories - such as wheels, bullbar, additional lighting, etc. Also, it appears that Alpha Motor Corporation has some additional cool features in store for its Alpha Wolf Plus, including an extendable truck bed, roof racks, and even a tent that attaches directly to the truck bed.

The Interior

In contrast to the exterior, however, the interior of the Alpha Wolf has nothing in common with the good old days, except that it is perhaps quite minimalistic. Premium seats, in between a center console with folding armrest, integrated storage compartment (incl. USB ports), and cup holders. There is also Bluetooth connectivity and a premium sound system.

Two screens sit on the flat dashboard – one for the instrument cluster (behind the three-spoke multifunction steering wheel) and a central tablet that serves as an infotainment display. Details on software etc., have not yet been announced.

On the other hand, the interior of AMC Alpha Wolf Plus is largely unchanged, apart from the colors.

The Power

Alpha Motor Corporation

According to Alpha Motor Corporation, the standard version of the Alpha Wolf has an electric motor for the front axle ( FWD ). On request, the electric pickup is also available with an all-wheel drive via a second electric motor.

Thanks to a 75 to 85 kWh lithium-ion battery, the vehicle should be able to travel up to (estimated) 280 miles. In terms of acceleration, it can sprint from 0-60 mph in just 6.2 seconds (according to the manufacturer).

In addition, its towing capacity is 1,360 kg and is equipped with a fast charger, battery cooler, and heater. The Alpha Wolf is said to be available from $36,000 to $46,000. Various accessories are not included in the price, such as additional lighting, solar cells, and roll bars.

Although the manufacturer has not yet released any exact data for the Wolf+, it is definitely more powerful than its smaller brother. With a trailer load of 3,050 kg, for example, it can now hook more than twice as much, and it also completes the sprint from 0-60 mph, a little faster at 5.9 seconds.

In terms of range, however, it remains at the estimated 250-275+ miles. The Alpha Wolf Plus is priced from 40,000 to 48,000 US dollars without accessories.

Conclusion

Alpha Motor Corporation

It remains to be seen whether the announced alpha wolf pack will actually make it into production and then with the specified specifications. The company, which was founded last November, seems to be relatively confident here since reservations are already being accepted.
