DodgeDodge challenger hellcat manual 2023

Dodge is bringing back manual transmission to the Hellcat, a whole year after the muscle car was exclusively sold with an automatic gearbox.

Last year’s decision was a confusing and disappointing one. Why would a muscle car like the Challenger SRT Hellcat be an exclusively automatic one? What about old-school manual lovers?

Well, apparently, Dodge realized that their fan base likes to have a stick to wiggle while driving. That’s why the carmaker decided to bring back the traditional six-speed manual transmission to their iconic model, the Challenger SRT Hellcat. To be clear, the Challenger didn’t lose any of its performance capabilities during these swaps, it’s just a matter of switching a gearbox with another one.

The decision was taken sneakily with no big announcements, it was only mentioned as a side note on Dodge’s media website. The same thing happened last year when they decided to get rid of the manual transmission. But in any case, we should be happy, now we can again enjoy the challenger’s supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 with a six-speed stick.

To be fair, Dodge did promise to bring back the manual transmission, saying that its abolition was just a temporary measure that has something to do with powertrain calibrations. Thankfully, they kept their promise, and the temporary decision was indeed temporary and didn’t magically turn into a permanent one like they usually do.

Customer pressure may have something to do with the sudden shift. Official Dodge statistics say that 35 percent of those interested in buying a Challenger Hellcat prefer a manual transmission, and that’s a huge chunk of the company’s sales figures that it can’t just ignore.

The Challenger Hellcat is an already tested muscle car that could do the 0 to 60 mph sprint in 4.0 seconds. And could complete the quarter mile dash in 12.4 seconds at 120 mph, which is a bit less than what the automatic could do. But we’re sure that the excitement that shifting gears brings should largely compensate for that.

From another point of view, the manual Challenger costs $2995 less than the automatic, which means that potential buyers will have an additional $3000 to get some wild visual enhancements on their new Hellcat.

However, you would probably want to spare some of that money to get a car cover because after all, what's the point of a powerful muscle car if it's all rusty and discolored?

Coverking is happy to provide you with a custom-made car cover that will preserve your beloved Hellcat and keep it as attractive as day one. Coverking’s cover will fit perfectly on the Challenger’s muscular design, simply because its design is based on an accurate 3D model of the car.
