RenaultRenault 4 reborn as compact electric suv concept

Renault unveiled a new Compact Electric SUV Concept, introduced as a tribute to the legendary Renault 4.

When it comes to memorable car models, The French carmaker doesn’t lack good examples, starting with the Renault 5 to the Clio V6 and of course the Renault 4. Now the company is building its future upon its rich past, making the new full electric 4Ever Trophy based on the legendary Renault 4 design features.

The new electric SUV shows a lot of its ancestor’s design cues, starting with the modernized angular style, the blunt front fascia, and the circular headlights. Even in the back, we can clearly see the old R4’s slanted rear and trapezoidal side windows gazing at us.

But don’t let the looks fool you, the 4Ever Trophy is packed with new technologies, starting with the full electric powertrain, and the off-road equipment, like the chunky 255/55 tires, wrapped around the futuristic-looking wheels. The car is topped with a carbon-fiber roof, holding a spare tire.

Continuing with the off-road features; the 4Ever Trophy has 7.87 inches of clearance, allowing for a smooth ride over the most inhospitable terrains out there. We know that the car runs on a full-electric powertrain, protected by extra cladding underneath.

However, Renault refrained from sharing any details regarding the car’s range or performance.

“To bring 4Ever Trophy into the modern era, we have infused its streamlined shape with technological sophistication. All these ingredients have been carefully crafted so that the design resonates with those who are familiar with the 4L and its illustrious history, and with younger generations,” explained VP of design, Gilles Vidal.

As you may have realized by now, the 4Ever Trophy has no chance of ever reaching the production line. But, on a more optimistic note, a production version will eventually see the light, just like the Renault 5. The awaited EV R4 is destined to replace the ICE-powered Clio hatchback and Captur crossover in Renault’s lineup.
