Rolls royceRolls royce britannia pickup by design student looks worthy of the spirit of ecstasy

The young designer Travis Yang proposed the most improbable vehicle; a luxury pickup truck from Rolls-Royce.

Yang calls his creation the Britannia, and it’s a digital-only concept, trying to imagine what a Rolls-Royce pickup would look like. The Britannia adopts the RR design language perfectly, with an extremely long bonnet, large proportions, and a wood-covered rear bed.

Travis Yang was very generous with the truck’s proportions, the Britannia spans 5,500 mm (216.5 inches) in length, and it has a massive ground clearance and large-diameter wheels.

What makes The Britannia concept more interesting is the unusually long bonnet, it’s even longer than those seen on actual Rolls-Royce models. Keep in mind that the Britannia is designed as an electric model, so the front can be used as an extra storage space, perhaps larger than the actual rear bed.

We all know that the most iconic feature of a Rolls-Royce is the front fascia design. We can clearly see that the concept here has a faithful reproduction of that, the typical illuminated pantheon grille, the Spirit of Ecstasy, and the rectangular narrow headlights are all here.  The roof-mounted LED lights are a nice addition that gave the car a more expressed off-road orientation, although the practicality of going off-road is questionable, to say the least, given the long front that would create major visibility problems.

On the sides, the wheel arches extended along the entire length of the vehicle, a reminiscent feature of the first RR luxury models from the previous century.

What makes a truck a real truck is of course the rear bed, and the one we have here is covered in high-quality wood, inspired by the ultra-luxury finishing that some custom-made Rolls-Royce models have. The same design philosophy is interpreted here as well; especially with the rear overhang uplifted stance, the protruding tailgate, and the continuing duo-tone treatment.

In the end, the Rolls-Royce Britannia is just an imagination of what an over-the-top luxury pickup truck would look like. But it’s still entertaining to imagine what would happen if some billionaire saw these renderings and asked for a similar model from Rolls-Royce.

Design is not everything, you have to make sure that your car can endure everyday use and face all the hostile environment elements lurking outside. Wear & tear, weather, and dust are only a few examples of what would hurt your vehicle. That’s why you need high-quality custom-made covers from Coverking.
