Singer Ends Production 911-964
Singer has decided it's time for a change, the Classic Porsche 911 won’t be a part of its productions anymore.
All good things must come to an end, and that applies as well to the Singer Vehicle Design (Singer) Classic Porsche 911 project. The company announced that they're no longer producing any Classic Porsche 911s. In an interview with Top Gear, SVD head honcho Rob Dickinson has confirmed that the classic Porsche 911 is virtually finished.
But despite this news, Singer doesn't intend to stop making cars altogether. In fact, the company just moved on to an even greater project: a new line of luxury electric vehicles.
Singer Ends Production 911-964
"We’re just trying to be respectful to the guys that are buying the cars. We want to maintain the values of the cars if they change hands afterward of course, which I think has more to do with the perception of Singer as a 'brand' over and above the quality of the cars," Dickinson stated in an interview with Top Gear.
The brand is now moving on to the Singer Turbo, which features a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter boxer engine and a 5-speed manual transmission.
Though it's always bittersweet to see another automotive icon taken off the market, this should be just the beginning for Singer. The company has proved itself as a capable successor to Porsche's legacy, and the world will be eager to see what comes next.
