The Cadillac Celestiq was spotted recently for the first time; the pictures show it doing testing rounds on public roads, covered in camouflage patterns.

In fact, Celestiq’s first images were published before by the company itself, but those were taken inside of its Warren Technical Center and advertised as “on the road” photos, but this is the first time Celestiq hits actual public roads.

Cadillac puts a lot of hopes on the Celestiq, considering it as an ultra-luxury performance car, taking the lead in the Brands line up, the Celestiq will compete with the likes of Tesla's Model S, the Lucid Air, and Mercedes-Benz EQS in terms of performance while being in the same time a luxury car of the highest level, or as GM President Mark Reuss said: “as Cadillac’s future flagship sedan, CELESTIQ signifies a new, resurgent era for the brand.”

Inside the cabin, the Celestiq is truly at the top of its class; the dashboard is dominated by a massive 55-in LED screen, spanning the entire width of the cabin, with other smaller screens for each passenger. As a safety measure, Cadillac introduced the “digital blinds”, a technological innovation that prevents the driver from being distracted by the huge screen in front of him.

On the technical aspect, the Celestiq will be mounted on GM’s Ultium platform, shared among several offerings of GM and its sub-brands, like Chevrolet’s Blazer SS and GMC Hummer EV duo. This setting will presumably allow the car to go from 0–60 mph in around 2.8 seconds. Cadillac has promised a full reveal in late 2023 where we will discover all the details about this promising model.

On another topic, related to GM electrification efforts, the company plans to install more than 40,000 new Level 2 charging stations across the country, targeting mainly neglected rural and urban areas. The project is called Ultium Charge 360 and it hopes to extend the sustainable mobility concepts in previously neglected areas of the United States.
