Stellantis Toyota Expand Deal for Electric Commercial Vans

Stellantis and TME have been collaborating since 2012. And now they are expanding their mutual work to include a new commercial van.

Toyota Motor Europe N.V. and Stellantis announced an agreement for the joint development of a new commercial van. The new product coming from this strong partnership will be an all-electric large size LCV.

Stellantis will be manufacturing the new van at its plants in Italy. The planned new large-size commercial van is scheduled to be launched in mid-2024.

“With this third successful engagement, Stellantis is further demonstrating its expertise in the commercial vehicle segment and in developing battery-electric technology built to support a full range of needs.” Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares stated.

The partnership between Toyota and Stellantis began in 2012 when the two companies first worked together on the mid-size LCV. In 2019, they strengthened their collaboration by offering a competitive compact-size LCV.

“We are pleased that we can extend this successful partnership through the introduction of a new large-size commercial van. It represents an important addition and completes our light commercial line-up for Toyota’s European customers.” Said Matt Harrison, Toyota Motor Europe President, and CEO.

With the increased demand for LCVs and to help meet the growing economic and environmental challenges, Toyota and Stellantis aim to intensify their collaboration. With their diverse range of vehicles throughout all of Europe, as well as almost no maintenance costs due to their electric engine, both companies stand to greatly benefit from this partnership going forward.
