TeslaTesla Semi Shows Off Impressive Acceleration In New Videos

The Tesla semi made an appearance on public roads in Nevada, showing-off impressive acceleration speed.

The truck was caught on video pulling from a stop sign and immediately accelerating in a manner that no other semi truck can do. Apparently, Tesla is still true to its word and its CEO's promise, making the fastest vehicles even if it’s huge-sized trucks.

Tesla enthusiast @HinrichsZane is the man behind the viral footage. He posted several videos and pictures taken around Silver Springs showing a Tesla Semi pulling from the stop sign, sprinting on an uphill segment of the road, and then even overtaking other vehicles on the highway.

No further context was provided about this specific truck, so it’s still a matter of speculation whether it was empty or fully loaded. The official Tesla numbers state that the truck can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds when pulling an empty trailer, and 20 seconds when fully loaded. Keep in mind that we’re talking about a full-sized semi-truck here, not a car. Comparable diesel models need up to 60 seconds to reach the 60 mph mark while pulling a full load.

We know that speed is not the most important feature of a semi-truck, but it’s still mighty helpful to know that such a huge vehicle can pull off its own weight and avoid being a nuisance on highways. We all know how annoying it is when huge trucks are blocking the road on an uphill section of the highway, or when they are taking forever to pass each other. [i]

PepsiCo will be the first fleet-operating company to get a Tesla truck. The deal was initially made back in 2017 when Musk revealed the vehicle’s prototype for the first time, and now he promised to start deliveries before the end of 2022.
