Bugatti Chiron pur sport super sport vagues de lumiere bespoke paint
New customized Chiron SuperSport and Chiron Pur Sport have come out of the factory with impressive paint jobs.
The high level of customization possibilities that Bugatti offers makes every Chiron special and unique. But some are more special than others. Especially those that the “Sur Mesure Branch” has laid its hands on. The latest two examples of this are a Chiron Pur Sport and a Chiron Super Sport. Which went through a five-week-long paint job. The result was a stunning hand-painted “Vagues de Lumière” liveries.[i]
The Vagues de Lumière paint job isn’t quite a new thing, Bugatti started the trend back in 2011 with a unique Veyron, called “ l'or blanc ” (French for white gold), the car featured a two-tone blue and white scheme depicting the natural reflections on the car’s bodywork.
The L'or Blanc scheme has known great success, inspiring more and more impressive paint jobs, like a one-off Chiron 'Zebra' with bright teal paint and dark gray stripes, created in 2019, and a Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse with a red and black scheme. The latest creations are these new two Chirons.
The Vagues de Lumière (waves of light) paint job is an extremely precise and intense process, where the artist starts with making 2D strips which are applied to the body afterward, the stripes serve as a mask for precise painting. The artisan starts the long process of applying accents by hand, on multiple layers. The final step is the application of a clear coating layer.
Bugatti has developed this technique from the 'Ladybug' Divo project, an extremely complicated project that was almost abandoned last year.

The most daring of the two cars is definitely the SuperSport, with California Blue as the base and a Lamborghini-sourced bright orange for the accent color, the designers went all the way with the orange strips, extending them everywhere, even into the oval vent pattern, on the front fenders, the 5-spoke wheels, and even the interior.
However, we can see that the Pur Sport took a classier tone with the navy blue-tinted exposed carbon fiber. An impressive but expensive choice, costing over $300,000. The art piece is finished with Nocturne black stripes truly giving the reflection sensation. Other elements highlight the racing personality given to this particular car, like the French flags on the wing in addition to the 9 in the grill, wing accents, and center caps all in French blue. On the interior, the car is covered in Beluga Black and even more blue-colored leather.

Bugatti has sold the entirety of its 500-units Chiron special edition, with the final 300 units entering production this year. So, we should be confident to see more stunning art pieces coming from these 300 Chirons.
But what’s truly keeping us on our toes is the awaited electric model, which is currently under development in collaboration with Rimac. With electrification, Bugatti will certainly give its customers even more customization possibilities.
