2023 Toyota Crown Teaser Photo

The first teaser images for the new Toyota crown model were released recently, confirming the rumors that have been circulating for a while now.

The crown Toyota has been the subject of many rumors for a couple of years now, suggesting a new SUV-like model bearing the legendary Japanese name. Since then, some derivations of the model have been circulating in the Chinese market, namely the Crown Kluger and the Vellfire minivan. But now, Toyota is officially announcing a brand-new crown model, radically different from the sedan version that we’re familiar with.

The new teaser photos have confirmed what we saw on some previously leaked patent images, Toyota is adding some new distinctive details to the new crown, like the prominent front LED light or the car unibrow as some prefer to call it.  Another attention-grabbing detail is the dedicated Crown badge at the front, taking the place of the traditional Toyota logo, which was relegated to the rear.

The launch date is set for July 15, so we should expect more teasers in the coming days, revealing more details about the car. While we wait for more details, one thing is sure, the new crown won’t be just another sedan. Some observers expect an SUV, but it will most likely be something in between, some sort of a high-riding fastback silhouette.

Reports are starting to talk about the crown’s size, claiming that the new model will be quite large, with 194 inches in length, 72.4 inches in width, and a height of 60.6 in. with the wheelbase stretching for 112.2 inches, built upon the TNGA-K platform as a hybrid and plug-in hybrid car, with a pure electric version coming later.

Toyota insists that the new crown is an addition to the lineup and not a replacement for the older sedan model, the iconic sedan version will continue to be sold in Japan despite decreasing popularity.

Here on the other side of the Pacific, we expect the new model to land pretty soon, bearing the highest price tag ever seen on a Toyota, somewhere around $50,000.
