Toyota TX550h+ Trademark Submission Hints Possible Lexus TX PHEV

Toyota is apparently preparing some new moves, nothing is confirmed yet, but the most recent development might be an indicator of the brands intentions. The Japanese car maker has recently filed a trademark at the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a certain TX550h+ model, under the category "automobiles and structural parts thereof".

Now we have become quite familiar with Toyota’s patent naming system, the X means SUV or crossover while the h indicates that it’s a hybrid, now the new thing is the + sign at the end, it almost certainly means that the car runs on a plug-in hybrid powertrain, just like in the previously released second-generation Lexus NX.

The upcoming Lexus TX has gathered lots of rumors around it throughout the years, the basically speculate that the model will come in three different powertrain options, a plug-in hybrid, a non-plug-in hybrid, and lastly a pure internal combustion engine.

But there is no proof to support those claims, the model was announced almost a decade ago, and naturally rumors will fill the gaps when the official information is lacking. The trademark application is surely good news, but it’s still no confirmation that the Lexus TX is coming soon. All the speculations mean nothing without official news.
